Device-based foot massage
Device-based foot massage in Nehama Sanatorium is a mild pneumatic compression in multi-chamber cuffs. The procedure helps to reduce the feeling of swelling and heaviness, supports venous and lymphatic outflow, and increases comfort after exertion. It is carried out with the approval of a doctor.
What is device-based foot massage?
This is mechanical lymphatic drainage. The compressor alternately pumps air into the cuff sections on the shin and thigh. There is a pressure wave that directs the interstitial fluid to the proximal sections and stimulates blood circulation. The method is drug-free. The parameters are selected by a specialist.
Indications:
- A tendency to swelling and a feeling of heaviness in the legs;
- Chronic venous insufficiency without exacerbation as prescribed by a doctor;
- Lymphedema and post-traumatic edema as part of complex therapy;
- Recovery periods after injuries and operations on limbs according to the rehabilitation plan;
- Sedentary work or prolonged standing.
The final decision on admission is made by the doctor after the examination.
Contraindications:
Contraindi-cations:
- Deep vein thrombosis, acute thrombophlebitis, suspected DVT;
- Decompensated heart failure and pulmonary edema;
- Severe peripheral arterial disease and critical limb ischemia;
- Acute infections, fever, severe inflammation of soft tissues;
- Active dermatoses with weeping, wounds or trophic ulcers in the cuff area without protection;
- Recent surgeries without a doctor’s permission, severe pain or compartment syndrome;
- Pregnancy for abdominal cuffs.
