Pressotherapy – eis the sequential injection and discharge of air in multi-chamber cuffs. Cuffs are worn on the legs, sometimes on the waist and arms. The pressure wave simulates a lymphatic drainage massage. The regime is selected by a specialist, taking into account the tasks and well-being. The method refers to physiotherapy procedures and is performed without medication.
What is pressotherapy?
Pressotherapy is device-based lymphatic drainage massage of the body. During the procedure, the lymphatic system is affected by compressed air supplied through special corsets, which is dosed by a compressor. This restores the flow of lymph and venous blood. Lymphatic drainage massage removes excess fluids and harmful substances from the body. The rhythmic change of pauses and pressures intensifies blood flow and metabolic processes, which improves all tissues and organs, and deep healing and restoration of body functions occur.
How does the pressotherapy procedure work?
A special suit is put on the patient, consisting of independent sections for each of the arms, legs and abdomen; air is supplied to these sections sequentially from the feet to the abdomen at a pressure exceeding the normal atmospheric pressure. The air supply alternates in waves with pauses.
In aesthetic medicine, pressotherapy is perfectly combined with other methods of treating obesity, “cellulite” and body shaping, for example, with compression lipolytic or lifting bandages (or “wraps”). In this case, after peeling the body and soul, banding is performed, the body is wrapped in a procedural film, covered with a thermal blanket, and a banding session is performed. And then – a session of pressotherapy. If desired or there is a lack of time, the techniques can be combined: wrapping the body in a film, perform pressotherapy directly according to the composition acting under the film. In both cases, the effectiveness of the impact is greatly enhanced, and the results are not only faster, but also more pronounced.
Indications:
- Chronic venous insufficiency without exacerbation as prescribed by a doctor;
- Lymphostasis and tendency to edema;
- Feeling of heaviness in the legs in the evening;
- Recovery periods after injuries and operations on limbs according to the rehabilitation plan;
- Sedentary work or prolonged standing;
- Support of skin and soft tissue tone as part of comprehensive programs.
The final list of indications is approved by the doctor after the examination.
Contraindications:

- Thrombosis and thrombophlebitis;
- Acute inflammation, infection, fever;
- Decompensated cardiovascular diseases and severe hypertension;
- Severe atherosclerosis of peripheral arteries and limb ischemia;
- Oncological diseases in the active phase;
- Pregnancy for abdominal and femoral cuffs;
- Skin diseases with wetness and wounds in the cuff area;
- Implanted devices and recently undergone surgeries without a doctor’s permission.
